I grew up playing sports, with the majority of my time spent dedicated to basketball. During my college basketball career, I enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard and eventually hung up the basketball shoes for combat boots. Fitness for me then looked a lot like 12-mile ruck marches with a 50lb sack on my back during all but ideal weather conditions. Shortly into my Army career I discovered CrossFit and realized it was almost a combination of sport and tactical fitness, which had me hooked. Since then I’ve been on the journey to hone in the skills involved in CrossFit while staying physically and mentally ready as an Army Field Artillery Officer.
The major turning point in my life as an athlete, coach, and human happened after a significant back injury that left me nearly unable to walk more than 5 steps without being sent to the ground in pain. This injury reminded me how blessed I am to be able to move freely and without pain. It was also a beautiful reminder of the freedom that comes with the ability to move well and often. As a coach, I use this experience with the hopes of helping others find the beauty and joy in movement.
My purpose for coaching is to empower others to live a life of saying “yes” without hesitation. Whether it’s a hiking trip with friends, a day at the playground with your grandkids, or walking your only child down the aisle, my goal is to provide you with the tools and confidence you need to say “yes” every time.
